PPR’s Race & Regulation Series: Jill A. Fisher
This event is part of the Penn Program on Regulation’s Race & Regulation series. Professor Jill Fisher, of the Center for Bioethics at UNC-Chapel Hill, is the speaker.

Jill A. Fisher, Professor of Social Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill, will speak on “How Race and Social Inequalities Influence Healthy People’s Paid Participation in FDA-Required Clinical Trials.”

Professor Fisher’s research explores how social inequities are produced or exploited by commercialized medicine in the United States, with a primary focus on how clinical trials are conducted. Her latest book, Adverse Events: Race, Inequality, and the Testing of New Pharmaceuticals (NYU Press), received the 2021 Robert K. Merton Book Award from the American Sociological Association.
